Wellington town centre acts as a focal point for retail and commercial activity, not just for the town itself but also for surrounding villages and hamlets.

The bustling primary retail areas within the town centre are concentrated along Fore Street and High Street, with a secondary retail area located in South Street.

A number of national multiple retailers can be found in Wellington, including Woolworths, Smiths and Boots. The town centre, however, is characterised by its abundance of small independent retailers and specialist shops. which entice visitors from all over the West Country and beyond.

A selection of accessible pay and display car parks offer shoppers a convenient base from which they can idle away a relaxing afternoon with some retail therapy, or alternatively dash round one of Wellington's three supermarkets for their weekly food shop.
